I wish could hear Natt Buntita sing live more often. I mean, really. I have all the CDs from Natt Buntita and the Sunny Trio but that's just not enough. Listen to the video below of her original song and you’ll be able to imagine why.
I first heard Natt, by chance, at the Mahidol Jazz Festival. I had actually gone there to listen to Dan Philips, a great guitarist whom I was taking lessons with at the time. Anyway, to cut a long story short, that was when I discovered Natt. What struct me most was the repertoire of Thai traditional songs and Jazz standards that she manages to string along, one after the other with that same syncopated feeling. And then of course... that voice. Unsurprisingly, she was one of the biggest stars of The Voice Thailand Season 3. Check this out:
I was so lucky to be able to book her to perform at Whisgars for a few gigs with the Sunny Trio a while back. As Whisgars was transitioning from the Blues, the arrival of Natt and the Trio was a nice change and the crowd absolutely flowed with it. Natt just has one of those styles that fit everywhere.
The last time I saw Natt live was at Saxophone Bar. It was a great night and the presence of Jakob Dinesen was like the cherry on top.
Nowadays, it’s not that easy to catch Natt live, so we will try our best to keep you informed of any of live event featuring the amazing Natt Buntita on BangkokHaps.
