YES, Of course I had heard of the name Mitch Frohman: Composer, Saxophonist & Flautist. But what I didn’t know about is the musical legacy that he carries around with him.The man was for 25 years a part of the Tito Puente Orchestra as well as his membership with the Mongo Santamaria band.
He has also played with greats; Celia Cruz, Machito, La Lupe, Cheo Feliciano, Eddie & Charlie Palmieri, Blood Sweat & Tears, Paul Simon, David Byrne, The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Milly, Jocelyn & Los Vecinos and even Aventura! Of course his signature sound can be heard somewhere in the world everyday as he is the sax soloist on the theme of TV's mega- hit "Sex & The City"
Well last night I had him right in front of me for 2 hours, with the Organic Man Rev Teerapoj Bump Plitakul and Mr. Sticks Renaud Beney on the drums.
Totally enjoyed the sound and interaction between those 3 great musicians, and a big shout out to Foojohn Jazz for a great venue and wonderful line ups of top musicians.
Mitch will be in Thailand for over one month! As soon as I know where he is playing next, I will post it on BangkokHaps and make sure you pay him a visit—definitely worth the detour.
