I checked out the Made by Legacy flea market at Sermsuk Warehouse Pepsi Pier, Charoen Nakhon Road on January 13th. Set with the backdrop of Saphan Taksin and the scenic Chao Phraya River with the Shangri-La and the Mandarin hotels staring you in the face as the boats shuttle back and forth, the Made by Legacy market is a place where the hip and cool, the young and old, and the creative, intellectual people gather to exchange their lifestyle and interests.
There is free parking at the market, but after driving for one hour from Sukhumvit, I definitely recommend you skip Bangkok’s hellish traffic jams and take the BTS.
The market boasts nearly 100 stalls offering vintage clothing, handmade jeans, record turntables and LPs, sunglasses, and furniture. There was a lot of unique, hand-crafted products as well as another 30 stalls or so of food such as foie gras, crab cakes, chips and guacamole, steak sandwiches, beer and cocktails—not your average street food but delicious all the same.
The place was packed by 6pm and throughout the day, DJs had come and gone, carving their musical flavors across the hub. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the live music (especially the Thai Hip Hop group that performed after 6pm), the Sangrias, a little bit of shopping (2 pairs of Korean designer socks if you really want to know).
This event is a sure hit, and I will definitely return, maybe even try to sell some of the stuff I own...
The next event at Sermsuk will be a food festival called Never Been So Hungry, possibly the funniest food festival you’ve ever been to.
