BangkokHaps explores Sukhumvit Soi 11

Posted on 12 Feb, 2019

When my friend Iver Rosenkrantz and his lovely lady Jalehare are in Bangkok, we aim to have a good time which usually includes dinner and some bar hopping.

Iver, as he puts it, is exploring Africa and making the most of it. A gemologist by trade, Iver brings his customers some of the finest gems Africa has to offer. In Bangkok, a lot of his gems are transformed into exceptional pieces of jewelry. You can check them out on his Instagram: @Rosenkrantz.Africa

The most challenging part of a night out is usually just deciding where to go, but luckily, I have made it really easy to scroll through BangkokHaps.com for quality restaurants, bars, and any specific event going on in Bangkok. After a bit of scrolling, we decided to go for French food at the Brasserie Cordinnier. In my past life, the brasseries of Paris such as Terminus Nord, brasserie Flo, Bofinger, and brasserie Julien have always been some of my preferred dining venues. I, therefore, have a certain level of expectations when it comes to Brasseries.

At Brasserie Cordonnier, I was greeted by Ms.Thali and had a Negroni while waiting for my friends to arrive. Thali is a well-travelled, French speaking, pretty young lady with an international style that suits the venue perfectly. A dozen oysters, magrets de canard, New Zealand Sauvignon, and a crème brule later, we were totally satisfied with our dining experience and will return for sure.

As we were about to leave, Manager Inez, a French lady from the Charentes Maritime, came took us by the hand and guided us to Havana Social to enjoy more of what Soho Hospitality of Sukhumvit Soi 11 has to offer. After an introduction to the manager of Havana Social, we were left to enjoy a combination of excellent music, great cocktails (Serendipity, Daiquiri, and more!), and cool people dancing and having the time of their lives. I wish I had taken the time to smoke one of the Cuban cigars and preferably the Cohiba Siglos I.

Next, we headed across the street to Above Eleven. After building up a head of steam at the Havana, it was refreshing to sit on the 35th floor to enjoy a few more drinks as well as the cool breeze. Although it was late, the DJ was still in full swing with a packed house of people enjoying the view…and a nice view it was, now that Bangkok’s pollution levels are back to normal!

All in all, it was great evening with my good friends. I am enjoying the ever-growing number of quality venues that crown Bangkok as the entertainment hub of Southeast Asia.
